Sage Fixed Assets version 2026 Crystal reports only compatible with and Sage 100 version 2025 and newer

    Just learned today (the hard way) that Sage Fixed Assets version 2026 is not compatible with any Sage 100 versions 2024 and prior. the Sage KB article has a resolution of "install Sage 100 version 2025".

    Just wanted to spread the word.

    Unless anyone here has run into this and found a workaround, we are going to give the client option of:

    • Upgrading Sage 100 to version 2025 (along with Starship, custom programing. etc.)
    • Downgrading Sage Fixed Assets
    • Installing Sage FA client on a computer that does not use Sage 100

    I called Sage support and they did not have much to offer other than finding a different workstation.

    How about installing the v2025 workstation runtime DLLs?  Delete the runtimes from the workstation, then launch the v2025 workstation setup.  It will detect the missing runtime DLLs and install first.  When they are are installed, cancel the workstation installation.  Launch Sage 100 workstation to test.  If successful, try the SFA 2026.  Everything works, great.  If not, delete the Sage 100 runtimes, reinstall 2024 and look for a plan B.

    Good info, thanks.  @David Overholt, just confirming this is the KB (4-3-26) you're referring?

    @Brett Zimmerman

    Yes, that is the KB, sorry for not thinking to attach that.

    @Jeff Schwenk

    I did think about trying that. But wouldn't that mean I need to install version 2025 on the clients server first? They are on Premium and I was a bit leery about doing that, I can't really put my finger on why that makes me nervous though.

    Maybe because of all the arrows you have been hit with, being a pioneer?

    You don't have to install v2025 completely; just create your install folder, then proceed to the workstation install component.  Since you deleted the runtime versions via the control panel, the first step taken is to install the runtime programs on the workstation.  Once installed, CANCEL the install process.  Test the results.  I've done this previously when Sage HRMS clobbered the runtimes with Sage v2022.  From my experience, the runtimes are backward compatible.

    If you don't get the results desired, you can delete the runtimes and reinstall from your current version of Sage.

    @Jeff Schwenk That's brilliant, we will give that a try and update everyone here. I'm not sure if it will be today, or tomorrow but it will be soon.

    The user that was having the issue had a death the family and just returned to the office today and we got connected about an hour ago and we simply grabbed the Crystal Reports Runtime installation files from the Sage 100 2025 Prerequisite folder / installation media, Then first uninstalled all the crystal runtimes on the workstation then ran the v2025 runtimes, and that resolved the issue. I had a support case open with Sage and I emailed Ron Aspe and he will (should) update the Sage KB too.
