Crystal Issue With v2023

  • 1.  Crystal Issue With v2023

    Posted 08-30-2023 11:25

Installed v2023 Standard on same server as v2020.  Users are all experiencing printing error in both versions:

    v2023PrintError
Installing v2023 client on user's desktop does not solve the problem, nor does uninstalling v2023 and the new Crystal Runtime and reinstalling v2020 client, with or without reboots.  I am now uninstalling v2023 on the server and may need to reinstall v2020.

Has anyone encountered these issues, and is there any way for these versions to live in harmony?

I ran into something similar with a 2022 to 2023 STD upgrade. Ultimately I uninstalled the two Crystal runtimes (add/remove programs) from the workstation and reinstalled Sage 100 2023.

Had to go back and uninstall Crystal Runtimes then uninstall Sage 100 workstation and reinstall Sage 100 workstation ( all version 2023 ).

I used the above process to get Sage 100 2023 printing without error. To do the same for v2022 I probably would uninstall the crystal runtimes, uninstall the 2023 workstation then uninstall and reinstall v2022 workstation. I haven't done enough 2023 upgrades to tell you if this is the most effective way to get everything working again.

Here is a cross reference to my post on this - Error 200 SY_ReportCommon.PVC Line 705

I had the same issue and fixed it as Wayne did – had to uninstall all crystal reports runtimes, Sage 2018 workstation, Sage 2023 workstation and then reinstall Sage 2023 workstation (it reinstalls the crystal runtimes). I tried just uninstall/reinstall the crystal runtimes but it didn't help until I uninstalled all Sage versions and crystal runtimes.

Did folder / share permissions get updated somehow?

Folder permissions are still the same, Full Control for Everyone.

For the one client, I had not even installed v2023 Client on anyone's workstation - just installing v2023 on the SERVER broke the old-version printing for everyone.  Uninstalling both clients and all Crystals on the server, then reinstalling the old client, fixed it for them.  This means I'm at a standstill with their upgrade until I can find a workaround - and if not, they'll need to spin up a new server which they really don't need, their server is fairly new.  A call to Sage is in order.

For the other client, the issue did not rear its head until I installed v2023 on a workstation, and the issue is confined to just that workstation.

    You installed v2023 as 32-bit?

No, in both cases I installed 64-bit because of the DTR printing issue.  Neither has third party products.  Do you think going to 32 bit might make a difference?

Absolutely yes.  We were told that installing 64-bit on a machine breaks 32-bit.

Absolutely 64-bit breaks any old 32-bit.  What you need to do is install 32-bit, and then after you no longer need the old version run the 32_64_bit_switch_utility

You can use the 32_64_bit_switch utility to go back to 32-bit, too. Works well – I've done it both ways a couple of places.
