Issue
Each payroll migration repeats several steps that may be same for multiple companies and/or needs to be repeated for the final file .  What files can be saved and reused later for migrations?
Resolution
When installing new Sage 100 2018 with Payroll 2.x, a parallel migration is required.  Typically one would migrate the MAS_SYSTEM information followed by one or more companies MAS_XXX.  A test conversion would be run on one of the companies.  There are several mapping files that are created during the Payroll conversion wizard.  These tables are located in the MAS90/Home/Textout directory and are named XXXDepartmentPreConversion.txt, XXXFilingStatusPreConversion.txt, XXXTaxGroupPreConversion.txt, XXXTaxProfilePreConversion.txt (where XXX = company code being converted).  These tables are used to save off the mappings in case the conversion wizard is out of during the conversion, and the user restarts the conversion it will have the mappings last entered.  These tables could be used for subsequent companies (if applicable), but they would need to be saved off prior to completion of the conversion wizard.  This would alleviate having to re-map similar subsequent companies, especially for things that are likely to be the same such as tax codes, filing status’, and tax profiles.  The XXX portion of the table name would need to with the next company being converted.
After conversion typically, you may data necessary for running a test payroll.   Use the Tax Status Utility found in / menu will help identify these areas.
The following could be saved before re-migrating the company.  This will preserve any Earnings/Deduction mappings you for your test payroll run.  Also, the company tax group tables will preserve G/L Accounts and any tax rates .  These tables have no encrypted data, so they could be copied in.  Note copy these in after the conversion is re-run for the re-migrated company
