Yikes - A lead from Sage....... But I'm not too sure about it. Gut feeling is that MAS would be a poor fit based on the description below. Four years later, not a lot has changed in the MAS mfg world. Would this be more of a Job Ops opportunity. I can't imagine MAS having native functionality to satisfy DoD requirements. Would Sage 300 be a better fit? Thoughts? Yes, the inquiry was from a consultant...... Another reason not to get too excited. I have a client that is currently using Sage Peachtree Quantum 2012 (SR-3) accounting software that interfaces with Exact Alliance MRP software. They are considering a change of MRP software to support the business which make electronic assembly's & electronics modules/products with the end user being contractors to the Military & DoD sector. When I looked at your MRP software some 4 years ago its features, maturity, flexibility, and usability for my client was lacking so I chose Alliance. I have looked at the collateral material you have on the web for Sage Pro 100, 200, and 300.

The first red flag is a requirement for MRP -- I'm assuming they're asking about the Sage MRP which realistically has not changed over the years. Typically I find that the base Sage 100 ERP MFG is a poor fit for growing MFG but a good fit for existing users who've been using Sage for years and just need to add some functionality. I think you're on the right track with Job Ops as they also have Purchase Agents which seems to be a mini MRP that's more capable than Sage's own. http://www.jobops.com/purchaseagent/ My other concern with Sage 100 ERP MFG is that except for BOM the modules are not at framework and likely never will be.

On the surface JobOps would seem to fit these requirements, and the Component Exception Manager, which is the native function included with JobOps that Purchase Agent provides on a standalone basis, is a powerful MRP function. Where you need to drill down is to the exact requirements for DoD in terms of documentation and traceability. We can include document attachments and have great serial number tracking, but you have to make sure there are not further requirements that cannot be met with the standard package.

To follow on with @JohnHoyt -- my observation is that I personally get sucked into providing these types of services (free) which the prospect is overjoyed to have ... because they then take the knowledge and use it to query the next consultant that comes in to propose. The more niche the user the less likely I am to provide much for free.

Before I knew about JobOps, I had a client that did DoD work. While we were able to solve most issues with BoM, WO, by adding in UDFs for document paths, revisions, apvs, etc. it wasn't perfect. I agree with @JohnHoyt - he's the expert on JobOps - that it would be a better fit than standard Sage 100 modules.
