I thought the deductions were ok if you did not close. I know earnings are ok. I could be wrong.
However, failing to close the year end before processing your next year's payroll will lead to problems with accruing time off due to carryovers and other limitations. It doesn't have the buckets to keep track of this year/next year like other places in the program.

I think any report you need lets you choose Year and sometimes Period now. You can close and forge on ahead.
