    I received the following email this morning from an IT consultant: 

    "Do you know of any people you would feel comfortable recommending to help us with managing and building out the X3 ERP system? We are trying to find someone who can either work in house at our office or work per hourly basis/project."

    I don't know who the end user company is, what the pay is, or any details.

    For some reason, I get a lot of these for Sage 100. 
    IT companies (MSP ?) who have bitten off more than they can chew
    I stopped replying unless I knew them or they were on my email newsletter.

    @Wayne Schulz  Yes, in this case, IT = MSP.  I know the IT/MSP person.  He works on two of my Sage 100 accounts, so I feel a bit obligated to at least put a few feelers out for him.  He called me a couple of weeks ago about the same subject and I told him if I came across someone that was a good fit I would let him know.  Apparently he still hasn't found anyone.

    I think you are right on about "MSP that have bitten off more than they can chew".  I get the impression the end user is relying on him to implement the system and he is looking for a way out.  I don't know who the Sage reseller is or why the company doesn't lean on them for help.

    I hear so many stories, The common theme is almost always "we don't pay consultants / never need to pay consulants / can handle everything ourselves without paying consultants". Until they can't.

    Then they make contact and pretend as if they are suddenly going to pay someone. Once you give them what they want - usually a price - they scatter and are never heard from again.
