  • 1.  Write directly to ODBC

Customer has developer that would like to write directly to the ODBC to update a field.
They are getting this message....I am not a master developer so I have no clue what needs to be done...

I believe this requires Sage 100 Premium. Even then, it's generally not recommended to write directly to Sage tables since doing so bypasses any controls Sage has to ensure that all relevant tables are updated during posting.

The ODBC driver is read only so, you cant use ODBC to write to the Sage database.

I tell anyone who wants to write directly to data tables to not even try (for the reasons Doug and Wayne mention).
If they want to learn BOI scripting, that is up to them... but writing to a CSV and triggering a VI import is easier.

Years ago we tried using the read/write ODBC driver and it resulted in a lot of corruption. While our tests were prior to the Business Framework, I would still stay clear of using it. Like the others state, I would suggest not going direct to the tables and fields unless they want to take on the liability that they are duplicating the logic that is in place within the business object.
