I have a client that we just updated to 2019. The owner is in Hawaii until January 10 and normally uses a VPN to connect and access. His internet connection is extremely slow. It takes over an hour to do the workstation install and it crashed a number of times before we were successful.
Now it wants to do the synchronization and it is taking over two hours and then it crashes. Restart and it starts the sync all over again. We've been babysitting it thinking it might be some sort of inactivity timeout but have not been successful so far.
I concluded that we could copy the WKSETUP folder to his local computer but that doesn't do anything for the synchronization part. n the "olden" days we had a wksetup.exe that we would have to run to accomplish the same thing. If we still had that I assume we could just copy that file to the local workstation and run it, but it doesn't work that way any more (that I know of).
Is there a way to do a manual synch? Last night I copied the workstation folder from an already installed workstation to his computer (it was going to take four hours) in hopes that might work, but I suspect there could be registry entries that may not have been updated Haven't yet heard back if that works.
Hopefully we don't have to wait for him to return in three weeks. :(
