    Posted 05-06-2025 20:05

Hello, Looking for more recommendations on an issue as result of upgrade from v2021 to v2024. I have a Win11 Sage 100 v2024.1 Advanced workstation that cannot print and update any PO Receipt Register that was created on this workstation to paperless. If another PO receipt batch was created on another workstation, this workstation can successfully print that batch  to paperless with no issues. Also, it does not matter what Sage user is logged in on the workstation nor what windows user (even tried w/administrator login) as they all can duplicate the issue. This workstation can print other module registers to paperless with no issues such as SO sales journal or GL General Journal. The error that comes up for the PO Receipt register is Printer Not Activated Error Code -30 followed by an Unable to Print PO_ReceiptofGoodsRegister.rpt. The device is not ready.  As a result the registry for Sage 100 Paperless Office Driver Version 650 has the document in the jobs folder and now and then the locks folder. There are no other versions of Sage installed on the workstation.

I have done the following (not necessarily in this order)

    1. Ran Sage 100 as admin and ran PL_AdvancedOptions many times. Uninstall, Reinstall & Test.Test works fine.
    2. The Sage 100 PDF Converter registry key was not there so I imported from another working workstation on their network and set permissions
    3. Removed the Sage pdf converter printer and manually added the Sage 100 PDF Converter in Printers (pdfinstall.exe in home folder) and set permissions and port to SAGE
    4. RegEdit as admin: 2 PDF Registry entries set permissions & deleted locks and jobs folders.
    5. Set UAC to never notify
    6. Uninstalled workstation and reinstalled many times
    7. Restarted print spooler
    8. Rebooted many times
    9. Signed in as administrator on the workstation and still issue
    10. Checked permissions on paperless folders, sage (mas90) folders.
    11. Installed crystal 2020 on the workstation and opened the po receipt register.rpt and set printer to "no printer" in page setup and checked form converted to 7.30 in Summary Info.Thank you!

Adding that it is Win11 Pro and it's 32 bit and they will need to switch to 64 bit eventually.

Per your list number 3 - "Removed the Sage pdf converter printer and manually added the Sage 100 PDF Converter in Printers (pdfinstall.exe in home folder) and set permissions and port to SAGE".  After deleting the Sage PDF converter printer was the print driver removed in Print Server Properties prior to re-installing the print driver?

Also, does printing a paperless PO batch work in a test company code?

If batch entry is turned off does paperless PO printing work?

Hi Doug, thank you and yes to the driver was removed and the issue is duplicated in a TST company. If I move the batch to a batch that is working then that working batch fails. I have not tried turning the batch feature off yet. I can print these batches to paperless on the server. so it seems to be workstation related as well as certain batch related.

My first thought is to look for a bad printer / bad print driver.

Also check the Paperless path for PO... in case someone updated it to a path not available from that machine.

And lastly, look at the actual journal report MAS90\Reports, in case someone did a bad design change (like adding a reference to a DSN that doesn't exist on that machine).

Hi Kevin thank you. All of that checked out. It's just strange that the workstation can print other ROG register batches to paperless that were created on other workstations just fine with no issues. It's only if the batch was created on this workstation is when there are issues.

Setting UAC to Never Notify does not disable the functionality, only the notifications.

    What I'd do:

    • Uninstall the workstation.
    • Registry hack to actually disable UAC.  (Set EnableLUA to 0... zero).
      • The path:
    • Reboot
    • Reinstall the workstation.
    • Re-enable UAC afterwards... (edit EnableLUA back to 1 and reboot).

I ran this through Chat GPT which did a pretty good job of giving recommendations which I think is largely due to your excellent summary. It spit out mostly the same ideas however a couple other that I haven't seen mentioned.

    - Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware - and, no, it doesn't fully explain why registers created on other desktops can be posted to this one

    • Can a register created on the problem PC be printed and updated to paperless on a non-problem PC? ( Sorry if I missed this in your list of diagnostic steps )

      - Have you tried uninstalling the Crystal runtimes manually and then adding them back ? I am not sure this is even relevant. I know that I've always relied on add/remove programs and removing workstation setup in the past but found with the later Sage 100 releases that this didn't fully resolve some Crystal runtime version issues. I had to manually add/remove the Crystal runtimes.

    - Presumably this workstation is being run under any type of VDI - Virtual Desktop Interface - which essentially resets the entire configuration upon a reboot? This is probably not the case as local IT will usually warn that any updates made locally won't stay.

PS - We are probably a year away from AI taking a good portion of these types of issues out of our hands. Whether that means that AI takes our jobs or not depends on the sophistication of the client. Eventually I think AI takes over lots of customer support.

Thanks to all for your suggestions. This is resolved. The PO Receipt of Goods.rpt was the reason. I dropped a canned one in there and it worked. Theirs had a subreport and some tables that were not being used so I recreated it in crystal 2020 and all is fine. Really appreciate this group!
