Working on the last of the v3.71 users. Wow, it was so different back in the day. Quick question. Are there any service packs that should be installed before migrating? I think user is on the original install without any updates.

There was a utility to remove future year transactions and make sure you set detail and summary in GL to the same length. I have frequently found when GL balances don't... Purging old years was a good option. Not sure about fixes and patches directly impacting the migration.

Thanks. Memories are slowly coming back... not sure if they are good ones or not!

IIRC once you got to 3.71 you were good. I think there might have been something inventory related if you were migrating from a version before 3.71 to 3.71 but I'm hazy. Otherwise same recollection as Larry on steps. After having done a few 3.71 to 4.x I just started telling the users that if the data was OOB we'd purge and I found most didn't care much.

I think it was at 3.4 that they added item sales history by customer and if you didn't do that interim upgrade, you would not get that history so I think @WayneSchulz is correct in that you should be good to go right from 3.71 to whatever version you're planning on bringing them to.

Do I need to be concerned about modules that are not active in v3.71 prior to migrating to v2017.

I had some weird inventory issues on a 3.71 to 2017 conversion recently and had to put in a stop at 4.5 to resolve, so at least make contingency plans for that, and check inventory maintenance and see if items show up in 2017. The valuation report ran and matched so at first all looked like it had converted OK.
