Working on a v4.5 => v2016 PU3 migration/conversion. Everything seems to have gone smoothly, but in comparing the inv valuation report between the two systems, I am off about 12K. I am not changing any default values between the reports. I dumped ci_item on hand quantities and they match and I dumped the im_itemcost details for both files and they also match in total extended cost. Any thoughts on what could be driving the differences between the two valuation reports?

Hi - I think the logic in the two valuation programs has changed in how it handles tiers with zero quantity but an non-zero extended value. You can try searching for that in your dumps, and if you find one, run the reports in both versions for one of those items, with different options such as print zero tiers, etc.

**Bingo**, that was it. There were about 90 cost tier lines that had zero quantity but a value for extended cost. The v4.5 valuation report did not pick those up but the v2016 valuation report does.

So this begs the next question - Has anyone written a utility the scans the IM.Itemcost file for tiers that have zero quantity but a non zero extended value, then sets the extended value to zero and even outputs the chances to a csv so a JE could be written? The purge zero quantity tiers utility does not eliminate these tiers because of the non zero extended value. Using the Sage workaround to eliminate via inventory transactions is just too kludgy if you have a significant number of records to correct. I can envision this utility be quite useful.

We may be writing such a utility, we have a client with this issue, but there may only be 20 or 30 records with the issue, so a quick crystal report and DFDM may work for them... how many records like this do you have ?

This client has nearly 100 and I have several other clients with the same issue. If this is a complicated utility, I am sure there would be numerous resellers willing to fund the development.

Sign me up. It's making one client (and therefore me) really crazy.

Custom report, export to CSV. Import inventory receipt, qty 1 using Standard or Last Cost. Post. Import inventory issue / adjustment, qty 1 with the amount you want to get rid of (plus the receipt cost), as calculated in the custom report. Post. Done.

Easy for one or two, PITA for 100 + items.

The custom report / imports do all the work. Exactly the same time for one or many, assuming they use the same valuation method.

@KevinMoyes not so much fun with serialized items.

I know manual fixes are a nightmare. I think I'm going to be dealing with this later in the week for a customer using Lot valuation... currently 2172 tiers with 0 QoH and inventory value. ""Lots"" of fun.

@JeffFiddelman - Any update on that potential utility to remove zero quantity tiers that have a few cents of value???

Not good. You lost a good opportunity to crowd (90Mind) source the development cost so all of humanity benefits. Still not too late to lend a hand..

Hi - We actually now have an availability to crowd-source coding a utility to address this for 90 minds. I think it best if anyone interested in participating in the design/testing of this, let me know on this thread, and emailing me at jfiddelman@exeplex.com. The availability to code is right away, as we have a big project that is delayed by 1 week..... I am open to the most efficient method to come up with a design (conference call, etc.).... Jeff

    Nope

Let's bring this back to the top. Hey EVERYONE - Please read through this thread. Sage has a deficiency clearing out the inventory tiers that I am sure many are you aware of. The tier quantity is 0 but there are a couple cents left in the value field which prevents the tier from purging. Big pita. Jeff is offering to create a utility that will remove the tier. If enough of us signup, it may only cost a hundred dollars or so (each) to have this invaluable utility. If you would like to participate, please let us know here.

Another related issue. If the itemwarehouse table has a zero on hand QTY but a non zero TotalWarehouseValue amount, a zero line will print on the inventory valuation report. Change the value and the zero line drops from the report.
