  • 1.  Work Order - Completion involving by-product

    In Work Order completion entry, is it possible to:
    1. Reduce the quantity completed for the item on the work order.
    2. Enter an item that is a by-product and have cost assigned to this by-product?

    is this a hypothetical or you have tried and can't it it to work?  I believe you could create a byproduct as a negative issue but I haven't tried in ages.  Hard to imagine Sage actually changing something in WO.  Not sure about assigning a cost though,  Might be stuck with what Sage assigns.  Sorry this may not be of much value.  Thought I would post something as the crickets were getting a bit loud...

    Thank you Jeff for the suggestion. It does work!! As you pointed out, cost to assign to the by-product is fuzzy. In this real-life situation, by-products are not significant and the average cost of the by-product is close enough for all but the most inflexible cost accountant.  

    Thank you for the response. Something I wouldn't have thought to try.
