  • 1.  Work order completion has wrong cost

Customer is on V2017 and has work order and WOScan.  We are entering an average cost item for production.  We backflush the components.  On component is short on inventory (we have 20 in stock but we need 30 for WO).  We entered the completion and the components were backflushed.  The entire QUANTITY of the components were issued; however, the cost of the shorted items appear to be missing from the cost of the completed item.  The completed item is valued at Average cost.

    Any ideas?

Thanks for the follow up.  I did find the answer. The situation is this:  When a component item's on hand quantity is depleted in a BM production order and the component is used in two production orders in the same batch, BM production order will use the average cost for the first item and the LAST cost for the second one.  The LAST cost will be the cost used in the update and costing of the parent item.  Contrast this to work order completion, same scenario with on hand quantity being consumed in first work order in the same batch.  Work order register report will show the component's AVERAGE cost for the first item but will show the LAST cost for the second item.  When the parent items are actually costed out, both items are costed out with the average cost.  Because of this, the material issue register REPORT does not match the completion register because of the AVERAGE cost vs LAST cost entry on the report.

Enjoy that monster of information this weekend.
