WO question. You used to be able to rebuild WO sorts to recalc WO quantities in IM. Have a client where an item shows close to 1M req'd for WO. Rebuilt sorts, said yes to recalc, quantity didn't change. Looked at where-used for this component and then checked the dozen or so bills to see if there were any on WO. Nope. Manually changed the qty req'd in IM_ItemWarehouse to zero then tried the recalc again to see if there really were rogue records somewhere. Back to 1M. Using Crystal, looked at WO2_WorkOrderMaterialDetail for ExtendedQtyReqd less QtyIssued for WO's NOT Firm Planned or Complete. Sure enough, it should be zero. Question is, why doesn't the rebuild sorts work anymore??? Am I missing something @BethBowers or @DebThomas ??

Is that a question or are you saying it has been fixed in 2013??

I might be wrong but the sort file rebuild just fixes the ON WO not the Req for WO?

Really? Then why did it change it back to 1M after I had changed it through DFDM to zero?

You are right - I just tested and it fixes both

So where can I determine what files it is seeing this requirement in?? Rebuilt WO1 then analyzed and relinked WO2 (wow, it has been FOREVER since I've used that one!). Rebuilt sorts and it stills shows up as 1M.

Isn't there a flag in IM setup to include work orders in quantity available?

Yes, but this a required quantity which should always be deducted from quantity available. I can't for the life of me find where it is getting the number from. Rebuilt all WO files, relinked all, rebuilt sorts and it kepts putting back to the original. Criminy!! It has to be somewhere....

Do you see anything when you look at the W/O Component Where Used Inquiry?

Can you test in 4.4 or 4.3 to verify the functionality there? Perhaps it has been changed.

I tested in 4.50 by changing the req for WO quantity through dfdm and then rebuilt the sorts which corrected the quantity - appears to work ok.

Well, yes, but WHERE is it getting the info to recalculate the quantity required?? I have looked at WO2 and unless I'm missing something, like unexploded bills, I am not seeing the requirements. It should not be including Firm Planned work orders, should it??

Let me put this in a different perspective. If you want to find out which work orders make up the quantity required for work order for an item, how would you do so?? Anyone???

You quoted from Ferris Bueller's Day Off .. well done. For Qty On WO, only Released orders are included. For Qty Reqd For WO, both Firm Planned and Released are included. Qty Reqd For WO appears to be Qty Committed (from WO2) * UM Conv Factor I think you can do a Crystal report to come up with the 1M for the item in question (but I don't exactly know what Qty Committed means and how it gets calc'd - this mfg stuff is not my forte)

Thanks @AlnoorCassim but why are Firm Planned included in Qty Reqd??? That's where it's coming from. I did a Crystal report but excluded Firm Planned and Complete WO's - who knew?? (What was the quote from Ferris Bueller's Day Off??? Anyone?)
