  • 1.  Will Avalara stop working if a client doesn't renew his Sage maintenance?

    We have a client running perpetual Sage v2016, who doesn't want to renew his maintenance because he has a lot of users, and just doesn't see the value in renewing for the benefits he is receiving.  Sage is sending him messages that his Avalara will stop working if he doesn't renew his perpetual license.  Does anyone know if these are just "scare" tactics by Sage, or can Avalara really pull the plug if he doesn't have a current Sage plan? TIA!

    I don't know.
    My guess would be that Avalara would keep working.

    I am pretty sure I've had customers drop regular Sage perpetual and their payroll subscription kept right on working.

    Unfortunately, this is probably a YMMV ( your mileage may vary ) as there could be wording somewhere that would allow Sage to require Avalara to stop the service.
