  • 1.  Why don't people get it?

    I'm watching Avalara's mid year tax update.  Here's the slide that's been up for the past 12 minutes.  If a picture is worth 1,000 words...
    Show a list of benefits or reasons to purchase, anything but a Q&A slide.  It's a simple concept but presenters just don't get it.  They must not care!

    Because this is how MOST webinars end. "Q&A" and then people tend to check email, etc.

    "that's the way we've always done it"

    "everybody else does it that way"

    "stupid is as stupid does"

    You know this is a major pet peeve of mine and obviously I'm failing miserably at getting over it.  (ha-ha)

    What's the tried and true presentation format...

    Tell them what you're gonna tell them,

    Tell them,

    Then tell them what you told them.

    Even a "Q&A" titled slide with a summary list of topics covered during the presentation, as a reminder (which might inspire conversation on something from earlier) is better than no content at all.

    Bob's point is "tell them what you told them" on the last slide

    What is one thought that you most want your audience to remember about this presentation? 

    IMO this doesn't land on the concluding slide because the presenter cannot decide on what that ONE thought is.
