  • 1.  Why doesn't Sage payroll auto update?

    Sage Payroll 2.x will auto-update (after prompt) the latest payroll tax tables. Why doesn't it do the same for important program fixes? 

    I understand the concern about enhancements but why not just have the system perform a check for enhancements and warn? I understand that Time Track is bolted onto Payroll (poor design decision?).

    It seems if you are trying to match competitive features with other products that prompting to update your payroll program -- which now is a separate standalone so should be much easier to achieve -- should be a goal if not already in place.

    And just in case, add in a feature to save any program files overwritten so that rollback could always happen... 

    What have I missed in this logic?

    I thought PR upgrade was new features (program install).
    Update was new codes (not program changes, just data).

    I'm fine with it not prompting EU's to install updates, since they'd blow by any warnings about enhancements.  But I wish to heck we were notified about hotfixes when they are made.  Or that there would at least be an easy way to locate all of them, like there used to be.

    Diane Coffman will be at MOTM starting Thursday evening through until her presentation for Payroll 2.0 on Friday and dinner that night too.  This would be a great question/suggestion for her and her team. She is one of the few that take such suggestions to heart.

    Yes, Diane Coffman does take suggestions to heart.  Unfortunately, she has a difficult time convincing ANYONE (i.e. Linda Cade) that there are great ideas that people would love to have implemented.  Who remembers the Vegas session where we were promised a resolution for the PITA purchases clearing report?  Just not happening any time soon.

    Of course, the one Sage program with a reliable installer is Sage Advisor Update, which is basically an invitation for ignorant IT to corrupt Sage 100 as if updates were a few clicks away.
