Who/what is Sage hiring these days???? Customer tried to do period-end while others were in Sage (OK, they should have known better) and got the message ""Cannot perform Period-End while a GL file is in use"". They called Sage support. The ""technician"" connected to their PC and concluded they need to upgrade to the latest version (they are on 2016) and install all SP's to be able to continue with Period End. They called me asking if we can start planning the upgrade. Thank you Sage Support :)

Well, in their defense, you'll need to kick everyone out to run the Service Updates, so I guess that would solve the issue :). And they drummed up some business for you, too; they should be promoted to head of the Partner Channel!

I had a similar call from a client; Sage told us we need to upgrade to the latest and install all service packs to fix this issue. I forget what their issue was, but that client was on version 2014 so I assumed that support just wouldn't talk to them until they were on a supported platform. Now I'm wondering.

Too bad you don't have access to the tech support call to officially follow up. Though if you could get a copy of it, I am sure we could be a session together at ""MOTM 2018 - Sage Tech Support - They say the darndest things""!!!

You should probably do a server format also to be sure you are starting clean.

running joke in our office is that we need to start a pool to guess when a Sage Tech will tell a client to open a DOS prompt and type in ""Format c:\

Perhaps that was Sales disguised as Support - can never have too many sales on the last day of the year.

Is Sage support really that lacking in training or is telling someone they need to upgrade just the quickest way to get off the call?
