Had a couple of meetings, with Terry from Whova about what feautes we used in Whova this year and what new features we may use for next. Two of these 'newer' features really impressed me,
1. Sponsors Banners and web widget
2. Attendance check for sessions.
The first, sponsor banners allow a small banner-ad rotation at the bottom of the Whova app (just above the line with the Home, Comments, etc. icons) with each sponsors logo and a hyperlink to their site. There is also the "exhibitors" list (which is synonymous for our group with a sponsor) with a logo icon, brief description of the company, and an area for them to advertise a discount or give-away. BUT wait there's more - this includes a means for the sponsor to scan badges and produce a lead sheet. This is very helpful to them and to showing their managers their effort at our event. An easy up sale to the Affiliates and a big win for us.
The second, attendance check-in for sessions will be key to CPE next year. Anyone wanting CPE for a session will need to be scanned in via QR code (the scanning tool is built into Whova) by the session's check-in staffers (at least 2 per room). The demo I saw showed a very quick check-in process as long as the attendee is wearing their badge. Whova allows us to add as many check-in personal as we need so we can easily cover scanning in attendees quickly.
It looks like we'll be printing badges directly from Whova next year - Jim and I are working on the logistics. It will be rather cool to hear the whir of badge printers as the members check in and allow us to set up registration earlier too.
