Who in their right mind thought this was a good name for an accounting software package? http://www.4-traders.com/news/NetWork-Acquires-Blythecos-Abila-Formerly-Sage-MIP-Nonprofit-Practice--17259581/

Supposedly it is short for ""ability"". Still not a good name.

One might wonder why they didn't go back to calling it MIP?

That would be too logical. What is interesting is that the company is now abila instead of Sage but they still call the product Fund Accounting 100. Is someone who makes the decisions French?

I agree, terrible. Abila is the Hispanic nickname for grandmother, from the word ""abuela"". Sometimes, it seems like marketing is asleep at the switch when products or companies are named. Do you really want your car to be tagged with the acronym for ""Killed In Action""? Or how about the ""Vigor""? Or Apple's ""Siri""? It took Chevy years to figure out why they couldn't sell many Novas in Mexico...

I suppose that Pascal proved in his 2012 keynote that the Ford Focus is not going to be a big seller in France.
