While at the latest Sage Academy, @RobertWood and I met up with a half dozen or so Accpac resellers that would be interested in joining OASIS and building out an Accpac side. Several discussions were had re: the importance of participation to acheive traction and value. In addition, for whatever reason, more and more Accpac resellers are approaching me / Azamba about helping with Sage CRM and I've been building some bridges with them. I think there are another half dozen that would be interested in joining. With Sage moving fast in a downward spiral, I think it would be to our advantage to gather more members in the family. Thoughts?

I agree, this could be the beginning of a var union

Great idea! But I find it incredible that Mark said the word ""union"" in a positve manner.....

Please let me know if there are objections to this. If not, I will start making calls and try to wrangle at least 10 Accpac partners. I think anything less will not have enough inertia.

This topic comes back up over and over again - same with the billing one. It ebbs , flows then is resurrected. Be sure you have a critical mass of active participants in any new section that you establish for a product or you will see that 99.999% log in, see nothing of interest, leave and never return. You're welcome to observe this for yourself - .02

I agree with your points. That's why I'm hoping to get at least 10 sign-ups at once and then I'll do what I can to cultivate the habit.

One of the major things that I mentioned when talking to Accpac VARs last week was that we really needed a ringleader for it to work. I think it's a good idea.

I did this with the Epicor VAR community, and we have about 125 members and get a total of 3-4 posts on a good day. Its bizarre how much more tight knit this group is. I'm not anti union per say. There was a time and place for them when the robber barrons were very abusive. They just outlived their usefulness long ago and never had any business being in the government. But our vendors are essentially a monopoly. And because of that, we are completely at their mercy unless we band together before we become irrelevent to their success so that we can have real influence on them. If we could get all the bpac members involved as well, that would add alot more clout to the group.

Mark, believe it or not, we agree in principle on unions having a place in government. It is like having the fox in charge of the hen house. Reading horror story after horror story of pension abuses and underfunded state and local plans, we all suffer. Workers still need a voice of some type, but I don't think the unions as presently structured is the appropriate tool.
