I always turn off 'let windows determine your default printer' option. It causes "issues" like print jobs hanging.
I don't know the actual logic Sage uses in the code however, my understanding is that unless you specify a printer in Crystal page setup, the off the shelf Sage 100 reports use the Windows default printer.

I'm trying to understand what the programmed logic is for determining which printer defaults for the Daily Transaction Register, since the same one is used for every module, and I cannot find any SY_* type of data record that would store, for each user, the printer for the DTR. And to confirm, there is no printer assigned in the actual Crystal Report. The DTR may be run singularly from the menu task, or as a followed on Yes response to print it after posting a journal.
Example: Jenny posts a sales journal, prints the DTR but does not post the DTR (for whatever reason, doesn't matter). Jimmy posts a receipt of goods register, and then prints and posts the DTR.
Bill then selects the DTR from the SO main menu - what printer defaults? The printer last used by the last user (Jimmy?) or Bill's Windows printer? What if Bill has 'let windows determine your default printer' option on? I actually think that option causes problems, but that is another problem ... one rabbit hole after the other.
I hope I was a little more clear in my questions. I have one user with a printer problem that I have been troubleshooting using the 20 other standard things that we consultants try. (I actually might have solved this user's problem yesterday, but I also could be jinxing this just by typing this.) But I'd still like to know the Sage logic of printer assignment for non-forms .rpts.

So is that DTR not defaulting to the printer that was used for the first register? I have users that don't pay attention to the printer on the first register when they are using paperless office. As long as the printer is a valid printer it creates the PDF then I think it uses the same printer when opening the DTR printing screen. I did some testing on my demo data and it seems that it follows that logic, but I'm a one-user standard installation.

I turned that auto DTR feature off in all modules, in the Sage security roles. So, it always prompts you to print the DTR, just like before there ever was the auto-DTR option.

Is the DTR you are having issues with part of a chained update. Like AP_InvoiceRegister update followed by the DTR? If so, I think the printer used in the first update is what defaults for the second update. I've not tested / proved that theory. But I think the is what happens.
