There was NO offer made to Moira! Not sure why she thinks there was, but I said it multiple times. I made an exploratory call to her to find out if there was any INTEREST in getting more involved with the board. I explained to her that as a board member, she would be involved with setting strategy and direction of the group but that the work that that board is currently doing is being pushed toward committees. Examples are the MOTM 2016 and Chicago 2016 committee and on going membership work. I said we had a meeting in NOLA where it was strongly suggested that the BOD be a volunteer position without pay as we are organized as a not for profit tax entity.. Due to the enormous amount of work, there is a possibility that some of this committee work (maintenance of the web site, blogs, SC admin, event planning, etc) could be a paid responsibility reporting to the BOD. Would she be interested in either opportunity - unpaid BOD or paid administration? She took it upon herself to contact Therese and Wayne (and Robert?) for more information. She called me after her inquires saying that she would rather be paid to do administrative tasks than serve on the board as a volunteer.
John Hoyt and Jerry Norman have been on my call list to find out level of interest but no contact has been made. I think whoever is considered should have strong strategic skills. The board can then figure out the tactics required to achieve the whatever strategy/direction is decided upon.
