When converting a Lead to an opportunity and I am creating a new company from the lead information (Clicking Add or Find this Company) it blanks out my company name from the lead and I have to re-enter it otherwise I get a Validation Error. I have attached a screenshot showing it. Any ideas what is broke and how to fix it?

Simple solution: stop using Leads. Very rarely are they needed. Other than that, I need more info. Are you saying that when you click Add Company on the Lead screen that it blanks out the name? Find Company does the same thing? How are you re-entering it? From the screen above, it looks like a read-only field.

Thanks Peter. I am trying to talk the customer out of using Leads...they like it though...gonna keep on working on them. It does happen in both the Find company and Add company. The user has to hit Save and it fails because the company is blank. After if fails it then does allow them to re-type the company name in. That allows them to Save and select the company after that.

I hate to say it but we have never seen this one and without actually getting in there, it's hard to troubleshoot. You might want to call Sage direct for support or, if you would like my guys to diagnose, email me @ pwolf@azamba.com.

@BrianBuck - please let me know if you make any headway on this. I would like to hear the solution.

This misbehavior goes back at least to CRM 6.2, at least with the MAS integration installed.

@PeterWolf Thanks again. I won't be onsite for another week or so and will report back to what I find. I suspect it has to do with adding custom fields to the Lead screen. I am setting up a new test server to test that theory.
