Does anyone have any words of wisdom on removing Scanco add-in from a Sage 100 site that no longer has an active agreement? If I could, I'd like to avoid removing it from their live production system, though I sense that's probably what I will find is needed.

They're looking to upgrade and instead of carrying forward the enhancement they'd like to remove it. I've had similar requests from customers for smaller enhancements such as Avalara and I find that it  can be tricky to remove add-ins prior to performing an upgrade mostly because you don't wan to bring down production but if you don't get it out of production you might not be able to cleanly migrate to a new version ( since you almost always get an error saying that the enhancement is required to be installed before migrating).

In Standard or Advanced, I'd copy the live system over to either the new server or another computer, uninstall the modules / enhancements I'm looking to get rid of and migrate from there.

    Premum complicates that.

@Robert Wood is spot on.  I upgraded client using Scanco PM last month.  I copied the ADV version to a separate folder (no need to copy to new server).  Ran it in MAS90 mode.  Uninstalled PM, then rebuilt the files.  Migrated the "clean" version of Sage to v2023.  No issues reported

I had a Sage 100 Adv v2017 install where client decided they did not want to use Operations Management anymore.

We uninstalled Operations Management but it doesn't remove everything. The JR/JI files were being excluded using the recalculate the item history utility and quantities were incorrect. DSD created a custom program that was a utility run from SYZCON and it scanned transaction codes in the IM Item Transaction History file and renamed the "JI" and "JR" ones to "II" and "IR" and it fixed the issue.

For a v2023 Upgrade, I first had to remove Property Mgmt (PM2000) from v2019.  I simply 'removed' it from the applicable companies in Comp Maint and then ran the Uninstall via Sys Config.  Seemed to go fine, no reported issues - at least not yet.

1/29  Just had to clean up some remnants of Property Mgmt (PM2000) post-uninstall, i.e. fields were still showing in A/P Invoice Entry-Lines and Man Ck Entry-G/L Dist screen.  I just used CO to fix.

And I never remove from the production instance; I always use a source-copy.

I think it really depends on what "scanco" product you are removing.  On the JobOps website there are instructions for removing Operations Management [today that site is:  https://portal.jobops.com/, but I understand they are making changes].  I am actually in the midst of doing this for a client on v2020 with some left over Scanco multi-bin products, and the OM Module.  They are going to v2023 with PM instead.  This client is premium, so it is a little more complicated.

    • installing their version of v2020 into a new SQL Instance, removing all reference to OM and MB in that version.
    • installing v2023 with PM into a new SQL Instance.  Copying their company to a test company and implementing PM in the test company for training purposes only.
    • Live Conversion of data TBD... I'm still working out that exact plan.

I have instructions for uninstalling Multibin if that's what they're using.
