What's the best method to handle a repair received through RMA that requires a component be replaced and the parent item retain the original serial number? (Ver. 4.50 with BoM and WO.) This is what I've come up with, but it seems to be a lot of steps, and could easily get messed up if there are several RMA repairs taking place with shared components.
RMA receipt of parent item to RMA repair warehouse. BoM disassembly of produced item to the RMA repair warehouse and exclude (delete the line) the bad component(s). Transfer in the replacement/good component(s) to the RMA repair warehouse. Create a work order pulling the components from the RMA repair warehouse, and complete the work order re-using the serial number of the parent. To make it easier, add the serial number as a bar code to the RMA receiver to accompany the traveler for the repair work order.
