The 90 Minds Meeting of the Minds 2026 is underway this week, March 4-6, at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort in Coronado, California. If you're there, I'll see you in the halls. Full recap coming in next week's update.

    Be Responsive and Available..

UVA Law Professor Jim Donovan's 23-minute talk on "Optimal Client Services" is a masterclass. His tip - "Be responsive and available" - has been the single most effective revenue driver of my entire consulting career. So simple yet so many ignore this advice.

    Sage 100 Technical:

Sage 100 v2026 Feature List Gets More Detail Sage updated their KB article with an expanded feature list ahead of the April 16, 2026 release. A few things worth noting for upgrade planning with clients.

Sage 100 v2026 is 64-bit only. After the upgrade, you cannot run both a 32-bit and 64-bit version on the same server or workstation.

    Key additions by module:
    • Sales Order: Package tracking number expansion, new skip selection for Cancel/Reason Code, suppress zero cost warning

    • Inventory: Lot/Serial number expansion to 50 characters

    • A/R: Customer price level expansion to 15 characters, access to Customer Inquiry from Invoice History Inquiry

    • Paperless Office: Consolidated emails, scheduled attachments, S/O Picking Sheet now available for electronic delivery

    • Visual Integrator: Enhanced formula editing, add/subtract value for numeric fields

    • System: 64-bit only install, product key now supports copy/paste, C/M identifies files with UDFs

The full list is in the KB article here

ThreatLocker Causing Sage 100 Install Issues Several consultants are reporting that ThreatLocker, an endpoint security platform, can block Sage 100 installations and updates. Recommended approach: put ThreatLocker into learning mode during the install. If that doesn't resolve it, temporarily disable it with IT guidance, then re-enable immediately after.

KS / MO Payroll Tax Calculation Issue Sage has flagged a payroll calculation problem for employees working across Kansas and Missouri. The KS resident withholding tax cannot be fully calculated in the current setup, and the issue may apply to other states. Worth a heads up to any clients with multi-state payroll in that region. Keep watch on this KB article.

Production Management Upgrade Sequence (Older Versions) If a client is on Production Management 2020 or earlier, they cannot jump directly to the current version. Required path:

    1. Upgrade to Production Management 2021.x first

    2. Then upgrade from 2021.x to the current Sage-native version

The extra step exists because Sage re-platformed the module starting with v2022, partially moving away from the original Scanco codebase. Version 2021.x acts as the bridge between the old data structures and the new ones.

Upgrading Very Old MAS 90 (3.x) to Sage 100 v2025+ Still running into this occasionally. Assuming no customizations, my notes show the minimum required upgrade path is. I'm very open to correcting/updating this if you have more current experience ( aka - needing to take less "hops" to get to current from 3.71).

    1. Start at Sage 100 3.71

    2. Upgrade to Sage 100 4.50 with PU8

    3. Upgrade to Sage 100 2023

    4. Upgrade to Sage 100 2025 or current version

    Partner / Vendor News:

Altec / Beyond Limits Rebrands to BeyondAI The document management company behind the Doclink integration -- previously known as Altec, then Beyond Limits -- has officially rebranded to BeyondAI. No functional changes reported yet. Worth knowing when clients ask why the name looks different.
