We don't have a primary at this point although 2mos ago it was BIZNET. Now I am think it depends on the situation and level of the excel knowledge of client. I actually think that sage intelligence reporting with the designer add in might be moving into my first choice.

A lot has to do with what the customer is wanting to do. Is it just financials?

Doing both Biznet and F9 depending on client.

Personally I believe Sage made a mistake only acquiring Alchemex. They should also have picked up RenovoFYI though I'm not sure if the market for an FRX-alike program is big enough. Maybe people will get over FRX and widely adopt spreadsheet reporting.

So by recommending SI where are you when Sage takes away our maint ? I don't trust Sage at all. Who knows they might change what product they recomend . Really dont think they will do that with SI -they have too much invested -or so I think...At least if you use one of the other products you will have a better chance at still getting maint income! Just my .02

You have to reach sales numbers to get maintenance with BizNet.

I recommend to everyone that you focus less on what policies a software publisher has in place to pay a recurring commission and more on your own annual ongoing support plan which a customer pays YOU for. This business is at the point of where you will not be able to continue to make any type of living unless you offer your own plan. (Tip: All software companies are pretty much the same level of ""evil"" in that they will erode margin when it's within their power to do so).

I completely agree @WayneSchulz - but it doesn't hurt to have all of the facts when discussing pros and cons. We still sell BizNet and SI - and recurring maintenance never plays into the decision. But we typically lead off with SI - especially for Sage 100 clients. It's cheaper, does everything that the others can do (at least for GL/financials), and you don't have to install SQL - so the installation process is about 5 minutes. Most of our Sage 100 clients want something simple and cheap to replace FRx, so it's a good fit.
