What if the downward trend in growth isn't due to a change to subscription. What if the trend is because customers can see through a fancy new financing plan to the reality that the underlying technology they're buying is the same?

Too much emphasis on marketing, not enough on technology. Fixing bugs and adding features to the software would help with referrals. Killing off brands (re-branding) not likely to help.
