What I love most in the whole wide world is a client calling with an issue and she says ""by the way, IT upgraded me to Win 10 this week"".

Had the exact same issue a few weeks ago. They rolled them back. Told them to never upgrade their systems without first checking with us.

Hi Wayne, this is Timmy I'm the IT guy for your customer. We just put in new workstations for 6 people and I need you to walk me through the setup. And, yes, they're all using FRX...

Ugh - sorry to hear that Beth. If it makes you feel any better, here's one we got a month ago. Client: ""What did your guys do to our CRM? No one can log in any more. You need to drop everything and get this fixed, high priority."" <we investigate - I call our pleasant customer back> Me: ""Gee, Jim, it looks like your IT guy came in over the weekend and wasn't sure what the CRM server was used for so he turned it off. We had him boot it back up but he corrupted the system and it's going to be about $6,000 to fix it and restore everything to where it was on Friday."" Client: ""Ok - get that done immediately."" And that is why I want to sell cloud solutions.

On premises software is quickly becoming a thing of the past, certainly more quickly than I imagined. Smart network engineers need to graduate from being technicians and be consultants that manage transitions for customers to ""the cloud"". There is a huge need there.

I agree with John - the ability to recoup a fee for helping a customer upgrading servers and workstations is becoming more difficult. The IT staff doesn't understand why they should have to call (let alone schedule an appointment) and virtually all the calls are now ""help something isn't working"" after we moved/upgraded servers/workstations --- the concept of pre-planning is foreign. Attempting to remotely connect and support anyone with HIPPA requirements is a nightmare in terms of the wait time and follow-up required. Literally 3x the time is required just in terms of waiting for IT then figuring out why their PC cannot establish a remote connect.

And then I got an email from a hardware guy who actually IS preplanning a new server switch for another client. BLESS HIS HEART.

I also love the clients who install the workstation themselves and then have to reach out to us when they can't print.

Actually, has anyone had negative experiences with win 10 with Sage 100 workstations? We've run into a couple of upgrades and nothing seems to be broken.
