    What am I missing - customer wants to add one of the 4 custom Inventory fields to SO data entry lines.

    Create UDFs with those fields as the source. Pretty straight forward.

    Actually I was only seeing UDF fields to add to the panel but I was able to click to display all fields and it then showed the regular Item fields. I think I was able to add from there.

    It's also too bad that many changes to add fields require a reset of the panel. This is an inconvenience for customers with many users who try to standardize their data entry screens.

    I think if Sage had a nickle for everytime we whined about their ineptness, they would have enough money for Pascal to retire...............

    I was working with a client today (actually their internal IT person) who asked about several design issues with MAS 200 that I could not give good answers to: 1. Why are the extended descriptions in their own table and not just in the main table of the item (or sales order, or invoice, or purchase order, etc.) 2. Why is it when you go to customize a screen, it shows you the screens that have already been customized, but when you go to customize a lookup, you have to hunt and peck to find the one you want, and when you want to re-customize it, you have to hunt and peck for it again? 3. Why does it allow users to resize screen elements? (e.g. they can shrink text boxes on the screen). Users should not be allowed to do this. 4. Why do the email addresses from the customer and ship to address come into the sales order screen, but not from the contact lookup. Why wouldn't anyone want the email from the contact when you pick a contact? 5. Why is there no way to set up everyone's grid in sales order the same way? You can set up the header, address, and totals tab the same way for everyone. There were others, but these were the top questions he asked. (Oh, and ""why is there no Linux version of MAS"".)

    All very good questions - Did you give him any Sage contact information? Lori Maloof comes to mind these days. BTW - What did you say?

    The scary thing is the extended descriptions used to be even worse....at least now they are only one record in another table.

    True, but WHY didn't they just include the extended description in the invoice history file? Were they worried about file sizes? Was it an issue with the variability of the extended description so it was ""safer"" to put it in a different table?
