Kudos to them for actually planning the phase-out. Too many web companies just up and shutter the doors one day.

At least our team has review more then a dozen options. This steps up the need to get the Buddy Press test site completed gentlemen. How's that coming along?

OK, I've refreshed my memory. I think we're going to have to provide training for the users, since it's not as intuitive as SocialCast. And I still need to go over Discourse's capabilities...

Discourse questions: (1) Can it be configured to show comments under each topic instead of having to open the topic in another page? An expand/contract toggle would be great. (2) Google SEO friendly listed as a feature - can it be blocked? (3) Can account signup be made invitation only, not public? (4) Migration offered with prepaid one year Business plan - can they do Socialcast? (5) I see a mention of file storage and wiki, but I can't see how to access them in the demo online...

I sent you questions @PhilMcIntosh and a couple extras to Discourse - here is the response: ( I don't know why the ""can it be blocked"" got cut-off and I'll follow-up on the comments under topics) Does anyone have experience converting a Socialcast site to Discourse? **Yes, we have an existing import script.** Can it be configured to show comments under each topic instead of having to open the topic in another page? I'm not following here sorry. Can you elaborate? can it be blocked Yes, you can blacklist crawlers or put your forum behind a login. Can account signup be made invitation only, not public? Yes, absolutely. Is there 2FA options for login? There sure is. Can a member be part of some groups but not all? Absolutely. Is there a calendar feature? There is an events plugin (note that this would incur a monthly fee to have installed as it is an unofficial plugin). Is there a group broadcast feature? You can pin announcement banners is that what you mean? I see a mention of file storage and wiki, but I can't see how to access them in the demo online File storage simply means that we allocate you space to store files that are uploaded into topics and posts. Any post can be turned into a wiki post, categories can be set so that all posts are automatically wikis, and you can configure your settings to allow all or some users to contribute to wiki topics.

So the Evernote and DropBox stuff could be converted to specific categories (I assume these are equivalent to groups in Socialcast)? That would even allow us to segment it by product, which would allow us to bring in more products without giving access to stuff people aren't ""consultants in good standing"" for.

@PhilMcIntosh I'll send the screenshot from SC. On the second item, likely we'll use the same categories we've set up for the KB and DropBox. On the expansion, yes, that's one of the reasons we were looking to leave Socialcast, we are limited by SC on the types of users in groups.
