I think you should get details from the customer on exactly what  customer portal means to them. Like ---- in writing details that go into some sort of memo. 

If the customer is unwilling or unable to complete such a document then I would be in favor of giving them a small / medium / large brief summary of what their options are: 

The terminology I use on pricing is "here's what I wouldn't be surprised by if you told me that you received this quote range" - that helps shield me from "you told me it would be x "

Credit card companies offer what they refer to as click to pay ( or some variation of that name ) that allows customers to pay online using their credit card

$ - part of your credit card rate

3rd party existing integrations exist that allow you to use pre-written portals so customers can not only pay but place orders online

$ - typically $15 to $25k initially and $500+ monthly 

Large

Write something from scratch and use a Sage AP from a vendor like ROI

$ - TBD - depending on complexity could exceed $75,000

Thanks @Wayne Schulz  They have developed a reasonably detailed layout of all of the pages and the information they want on each page.  It seems like it is good enough to present to a web developer for a quote.  They just need to find someone to create the pages for them. 

I have given them a quote to create a design for the API.  Then, once the design for the API is complete I can quote them for the API coding and testing.  So there are three costs: Develop the web site, design the API, and develop the API.

I usually call in Bob Richter at ROI and let them deal with the API. Thinking about coding credit card integration ( securely ) is enough to make me nope out.

FWIW, I also noticed the exact same Sage Connect info in the v2023.4 What's New as in v2024.1.
