We recently had a couple of clients switch from Sage 100 2016 to 2016c and when the subscription order gets entered in Sage's system the registration information automatically get updated on the client's system. We then get a call from the users saying the software looks different. We also just had someone move from Standard to Advanced and I see the advanced keys are now showing up in Sage and in the Windows registry and we didn't put them there. Are they keys being updated using Sage Advisor or does Sage have some other way to do this? I would like to have more control over this at the client site. Any ideas?

The keys ARE being updated automatically. We have asked several times and different people and can't get anyone to tell us how they're doing it. I'm sure that's because they don't want us turning it off.

@WayneSchulz wrote about this on his site in September 2016. http://www.s-consult.com/2016/09/19/sage-100-100c-registration-keys-now-update-themselves/

Just went through this with a client up for renewal - the license key change related to a payroll subscription change and brought Sage 100 to a screaming halt just at time of finishing 2016 p/r tax filings. We ran it as far up as the pole as we could and got Sage staff contradicting one another. One key person insisted that the change was made by us - it was not - the system did it itself about 3am on a Sunday evening. It goes out somehow and checks things every night, because trying to fix the license keys for this client went through about 3 iterations in 4-5 days - by itself. We turned off the auto-update before any of those license changes. We also could not get any more information other than a confirmation that there is now an ongoing check against the license entitlement server but no more details.

I believe Sage 100 2015 Product Update 5+ or Sage 100 2016 Product Update 2+ or Sage 2017.0+ are the only versions which auto-update keys ATM.
