We just picked up an orphan. They are running ver

We just picked up an orphan. They are running version 3.06. That's correct, not a typo, 3.06. We recently rebuilt SY0CTL.SOA to address a program error. That fixed the reported issue but now when they go into certain modules, the business date does not prompt. It stays the same as it was the last time they were in the module. Is there a setting for this that I'm not seeing? It should either 1) prompt for a business date or 2) set to todays date. I would have sworn that it was a setting but I can't find it. I may be getting 500 and 90 confused. Thanks in advance.

Are the screens all still DOS on that version? Not that it makes any diff, but I'm just curious. I have someone on 3.4 (maybe 3.3) and the screens are all DOS but that may have been an option still back then.

it appears to be windows. They have Job Ops installed. The ""Prompt for Accounting Date"" flag in company preferences was set to No. This is not the way it used to be so it was probably reset when SY0CTL was rebuilt. I had to go to the File menu option to find it. Thanks Beth.

@ShawnSlavin - Are they on maintenance?

I don't think they can be. Sage doesn't support 3.06 anymore.

Actually, they can be on maintenance - keep paying each year, but just never upgrade. Sage really doesn't care what version they are using as long as they are paying their annual bill to keep maintenance update. They will not support 3.06, but your client may have continued to pay for maintenance and be current.

Thanks for the clarification @DebThomas. I just can't image someone paying for maintenance on a product 10 years dead with no hope of upgrades. Just buy the stuff again in 10 years and save money. (Not the approach we recommend but some to it anyway.)

Totally agree Shawn, but I've seen it...you might check with them though just to be sure.

So why are you helping them? Vast sums of support money or have they promised to get into this millennium?

Back in 3.06 you just paid for upgrades. Annual maintenance started 3.30 or after.

@JeffSchwenk sales says they have promised to upgrading to a current version within the next 6 months. If they haven't signed an upgrade contract within 4 months, I'm cutting them free. They are on a per incident support basis at the moment. We will not take them on as a full client until they complete an upgrade.
