We have a potential customer who is has a SAGE 100/SAGE CRM integration that is looking at accessing SAGE CRM outside of the network but will still need view Customer Maintenance data and other components of the SAGE 100 application from inside of SAGE CRM application though they are outside of the network. I reviewed a previous post below (from 2015) that indicated that functionality to the SAGE 100 integration would be limited outside of the network and the Greytrix add-on would be required. Is this still the case? Is Greytrix still required and has anyone used it? Has anyone ever tried the option of installing the SAGE 100 Workstation via external IP outside of the SAGE 100 application network? Would that work if the Workstation (or at least the ODBC connection) was accessible outside the network as well? Let me know if clarification is needed. Thanks in advance.

The workstation client needs to be present on the device they are connecting to for the integration pieces like Explore Views or Quotes/orders to function. That is why Sage came up with the ""Quick Quote/Order"" for users of Sage 100 Advanced. Quick Quotes/orders uses SDATA to connect to and exchange data with the application. It does not work with Standard. if they need access remotely with the views, they need to connect using a remote desktop connection. Other wise they just have the Standard CRM features. Or use an alternate integration tool like Greytrix.

Alan would the SDATA integration also work with tasks such as Customer Maintenance also?

Not sure on that one. I don't currently have CRM installed with an Advanced version of Sage 100 in order to do a quick test.

Can they use a VPN and an RDP session to connect to their network?

The issue is when you use a ermote desktop session all CRM users must pay for microsoft licensing in the environment. It is definitely doable from a hosting perspective, just more expensive than a true browser client.

If it is just reporting of data you can set up a linked server connection from the CRM SQL to Sage 100 and use that data in custom reports (or dashboards) in CRM.

That also lets you use CRM's built in capability to filter by salesperson.
