We have a MAS 90 4.5 client that wants to evaluate Sage CRM. Rather than link Sage CRM to their production company, they want to liink Sage CRM to a copy of their production company. If they like Sage CRM they would then want us to point Sage CRM to their production company and create a new installation of Sage CRM. None of the data from the evaluation would need to be moved to the ""new"" installation of Sage CRM. Has anyone done this? Any thoughts on how difficult it will be to wipe out the evaluation copy of Sage CRM and start with a fresh version of Sage CRM? TIA, Leonard

Personally what I would do, if they are on MAS90 would be to install a fresh install on a stand alone, install SageCRM, create the same company code and then copy over the data folder from the live company. This way they could play around with live data and see how things work. You can delete everything later.

@LeonardSmith - I've asked my team how easy / difficult this would be. Ultimately, Big Louie is right. If they aren't live with Sage CRM and are just playing around, set up a dummy instance of everything for play and then, if they like it, set it up correctly in the live environment.

Thank-you both! Great idea to set up a separate installation.

I've actually had to do that in the past - we ended up just setting up a test environment at first and then when they went live with CRM we turned it into a place for them to test customizations

We recommend to most of our clients that they have a trial environment like that. For the more cost-conscious sorts, you can set up a virtual server. It can always be turned off when it's not needed so it doesn't take up resrouces / memory.
