We have a long time Sage 100 customer running Payroll on Sage 100 2013 who renewed directly through Sage. This wasn't a big deal but apparently Sage didn't give them an option and moved them directly to Sage 100c. They don't have a lot of employees (less than 25) and they now mostly use the system for PR and GL. Obviously they can still run 2013 for a while but we will eventually have to upgrade them to 100c. Can one of you who have followed the changes in PR give me a quick primer on what this will do to their ongoing processing and maintenance?

I would like to add a question to @ChuckPeddy's list. If a small user like Chuck's AP, LM, GL and PR renews their annual maintenance in 2016. And is currently running SAGE 100 STD v2016. Will they be able to process payroll until sometime in May 2017, without purchasing the Payroll, Direct Deposit, etc. subscription?

They will need to upgrade this year to continue applying Tax Table Updates. With the upgrade to 100c, new registration keys must be applied. These new keys will reflect the new Payroll maintenance/subscription. If thy process a payroll for more employees than is their tier, a message will prompt that they have so-many days to upgrade their Payroll tier. Other than the UI, for the most part, all functions are the same.

I believe the cutoff of Payroll is April 2017 (don't recall the exact date).

So if the customer stays in version 100, perpetual, and stops paying maintenance, they could still do tax table updates manually. could they go back to perpetual after switching to 100c? Some of them renewed without consulting me....

Yes, the tax tables can be updated manually. I don't know if registration keys have been configured in a manner that would make moving back to perpetual impossible. (Haven't tried that.)

Lourdes, our customer had NO idea they were doing anything other than simply renewing their normal subscription. IMO, this is intentional misleading by Sage. Your customer probably also had no idea they were changing anything.

Lourdes, If staying on v2013, the only issue that I can think of may be with eFiling, since that confirms current maintenance level and/or registration keys. Just not sure how that checking will work with the new Payroll subscription.
