We have a client with MAS90 4.50 pu2 system. The issue is that over the last 3 weeks they are experiences hangs during the so sales journal updates. It usually hangs on the first invoice and write out a restart key. If you restart it it will still hang. If you delete the restart key it will work restart but it will sometimes double-post. They have are all 64 bit with win2008r2 server and win 7 workstations. It seems to be intermittent . We have experience the issue on both workstations and recently on the server too. Anyone run or heard of this before. It seemed to start after load PU2. @KennethPhillips has been burning up some time troubleshooting it.... Any ideas anyone?

WAG - Is Automatic Logoff in user Maintenance enabled? Had someone on 4.4 turn it on and it started dropping the connection during updates.

I checked all User Codes and none have the User Maintenance Automatic Log Off checked. Users use a Accounting Role which has all S/O flags turned on (all rights). Sage did indicate that Microsoft Essentials AV was not supported by Sage and to uninstall on all workstations accessing MAS 90 (interesting since not mentioned in SPM). But this may be red herring since the Sales Journal update has hung on first invoice updating from the Server logged in as Administrator.

@KennethPhillips I have several customers running MS Security Essentials AV without issue on MAS90 systems, although by default will did put an exclusion in on it for all their client computers to exclude from scanning the MAS network share folder. Did you do that on your client workstations?

I've been runn Security Essentials for over a year now and have never encountered a problem. Will be interesting to see the end result. Are the SE settings excluding the MAS extension?

+1 for Security Essentials. I have one client who was always having difficulty with Norton, and once he put MSE on the PC, no more issues.

Ughh...Norton and McAfee always make me cringe when I see them installed at a client site.

On one workstation i was working on I did set MS Essentials to exclude the \MAS90 folder on server (acutually \v45) and set the exclusions per Sage list (i.e. SOA, M4T, etc). Update still hung. I have them enter invoice batch (batch entry off) and update from server, where it has hung intermittantly and no AV is running on the 2003 R3 server.

@KennethPhillips you may need to set that exclusion on ALL workstations to fully test it. Keep in mind even though the one you set the exclusions on is doing the posting the other workstations AV may be scanning any open files at the same time. (I hope that make sense....my morning coffee is wearing off)
