We have a client that is using Sage 100 Advanced w

We have a client that is using Sage 100 Advanced with Insynch, Starship, ACSG Multi-bin, and Scanforce. They have been ""attacked"" by crypto several times and their IT admin is asking if we can move Sage to the Sage Cloud. It is my understanding that the Sage Cloud is for vanilla installations I am not sure if it is still available. Does anyone have any suggestions for setting up Sage 100 in a more ""secure"" environment with multiple add-ons? Thank you!

Most Crypto viruses attack folders where you have ""everyone"" set to full control. I'm not sure if ALL are like that but I've had success with telling IT department to create a group (""Sage100"") give that group full control of the folders; add the users that need Sage100 to that group, then don't forget to take the ""everyone"" rights away.

Sage 100 Online is for very vanilla installs. Not an option for most companies.

many of the Crypto programs attack Mapped drives. Mapped drives is not a requirement for Sage 100 advanced.

@alanniergarth I'm not sure mapped drives are a requirement for 2016. I've stopped using them for over a year now.

@MarkKotyla Sage still shows that on the KB :Install Workstation Setup - Sage 100 ERP Standard: 1.Close other programs. (NOTE: Do not close antivirus, antispyware, and script-blocking software unless it is actually interfering with the installation.) 2.Map a drive letter to a share point that's at least one folder above the MAS90 folder where the Sage 100 Standard ERP server component is installed. (**WARNING: The Workstation Setup wizard will run only if it is executed from a mapped drive letter. Do not run the Workstation Setup wizard from a UNC path or through Network Neighborhood.)**

I think the instructions aren't up to date. Setup runs fine when launched from UNC. Plus, even if executed from mapped drive, the installation uses UNC path in the Start in and program folders of the Sage 100 icon. Initially, I used to change it back to mapped drive, but every PU would reset it back to UNC, so I stopped fighting it.

I believe starting with Windows 7, even if you map a drive and use it for an installation, Windows will try to use the UNC path anyway behind the scenes.

We currently resell Webroot which has worked well for us, but to really keep Crypto-variants out you need a multi-faceted approach with things like spam-filtering, firewall content filtering/analysis, OpenDNS and group policies that limit user rights (users should not be local administrators) and execution abilities (Software Restriction Policies, Applocker, etc).
