We have a client running Sage 100 Advanced v4.50 PU4 that is trying to get a handle on scheduling of work orders. It is my understanding that using forward scheduling should take into account lead times. However, in altering the lead times on the Vendors page of the Item Maintenance screen seems to have no impact on the system calculated due date for the work order. Is there another place is the system where I need to establish lead times to make an impact on the due date when forward scheduling the work order?

WO leadtime is based on the routing (operations) Shawn. It does not consider the leadtime in Item Master. MRP will consider them if they are buy items. It will also consider them if the Options are setup to only use leadtimes and not WO Routings. But Scheduling considers the routing for the WOs.

Thanks Deb, so just to be sure I am clear...if I schedule a work order that has a raw material with zero on hand, and the raw material has a buy lead time that is 7 days, the scheduling calculation will not take this into account? So to get around this, I guess I would need to review MRP and delay work order release until material is received, correct? Appreciate the assistance.

Think of it this way Shawn, scheduling in work order determines the dates for the production process and the WO in general. MRP uses those dates to determine the need dates for supporting materials both purchased and manufactured. Scheduling will not take component leadtimes into consideration....only the routing to determine the dates for the manufacture

Thus we have a piece of software called JobOps, which for the most part is Framework compliant also.
