We have a client on Sage 100 Std who plans to upgrade their server (now 2008) to 2012. Any ramifications for Sage (i.e. anything we will need to do)?

Usual issues of moving paperless office , etc -- otherwise I have not run into any incompatibilities. Problems with lack of user rights, failure to exclude files from virus scan. But not with the Sage 100.

Thanks @WayneSchulz - I'm not sure I clearly asked the question - they plan to upgrade the O/S on the existing server. They aren't moving to a new server. Yes, I wonder if permissions will come into play.

Why do they want the head ache. If the server is an original, it is probably several years old. Just looking for headaches down the road. Are you going to reinstall Sage??

I was informed that that was their plan. That's my question - do I NEED to re-install Sage?

Short answer is no BUT........ What version are you on? v201x??? You can simply copy the folder back to the new 2012 OS server and it will run. However, you may not be able install a product update. Depends if the registry gets hosed or not. Worst case is you do have to reinstall. If you do not plan on any PU installations or you plan on migrating to a new version, then no worries.

Version is 2013; and you can't install a 2nd instance of the same version on the same server. Fun.

Are they going to wipe the C:\ drive and do a fresh OS install, or are they actually going to upgrade the OS in place (yuck!)?

    Good question - don't know - I haven't talked directly with IT . . . yet.

Pretty sure that I did this and did not have to make any changes since they reinstalled with Sage on the server and did not change IP or server names.
