We are working on a MAS 90 4.5 upgrade. We did our initial test in-house and worked out most of the challenges. We then went on-site and did a clean install of 4.5 on a brand new Windows 2008 R2 server. Next, we ran a parallel upgrade. We have run into an error in TimeCard that we can't find in the Knowledgebase (can't get into kb via IE 9 today but can with Firefox.) Error message reads: lookup TCU, error #20 syntax error, at line 1) error in lookup TCU No results are returned in the KB for TCU under Sage 100 and the error #20 references don't look apropos. I am checking here before I open a case with Sage (only to find out it is in the kb but I can't get the kb to work). Thanks,

What are you doing when you get it?

Per Beth (one of my staff) 'They are running into an error in Time Card Entry when clicking on the lookup on the date in Time Card Data Entry.'

Try running the ALE Lookup Conversion under Library Master / Utilities. If that doesn't work you can DFDM SY1Q01.soa - SY1Q04.soa and delete any records where: 1. 10th and 11th characters are ""TC"" (for Timecard) AND 7th character is ""A"" or ""B"" (these are cusotmized user lookup records) Make a backup of those files first.

Oh, @ShawnSlavin - look at you with the @! :-) So they are trying to lookup previously entered data, correct? Is it possible some dates got corrupted? Can you print a report of what was entered?

@AlnoorCassim, thanks, I will try that next. @BethBowers, I may be slow but I'm trainable. Just ask my wife!

Is this link to the KB a current one? Hard to tell but it works for me in IE9. http://infosource.sagesoftwareonline.com/sw_attach/search.asp

@JeffSchwenk , this is the old kb which was retired in March? it is no longer being updated. The current kb is accessed through the Sage Portal (aka Atlas). https://partners.sagenorthamerica.com/irj/portal/ Hope this helps. (It sucks and is grossly slower than the old one so I mean the tip, not the portal.)

@AlnoorCassim The rebuild did not resolve the problem and there were no custom lookups for TimeCard in any of the 4 SY1Q files. The error message is the same but now references line 1040 rather than line 1. I will open a support case and post the resolution once we have it tied down.

How big is the file in question? What I have done in the past is to export via VI into a CSV file, then edit in Wordpad. I have noticed that for a couple clients, date corruption happens more frequently. MAS is writing a space instead of a zero. That is the only way I have been able to isolate.

Are you thinking that the issue is a record in the Time Card entry table? I just figured that the date lookup was just that, a calendar lookup. If it is indeed looking at entered data, your proposition would be a lot more probable. Thanks,

The DateWorked in TC1 has been known to have bad dates. That may be a good starting point. If you end up correcting any, then rebuild TC Sort files as some old lookups are based on the sort files.

Thinking out loud here. When one of my clients had a bad date in Sales order, none of the Crystal reports run due to it. Depending on the number of lines in TC1, write a quick Crystal report on the date fields to see if it blows.

Seems like there was an error on here a while ago where the problem was the time not the date so might check that also
