We are trying to determine the effectiveness of this Sage 300 group. For those of you who work with Sage 300, do you come here to find answers to technical questions? If not, why not? Do you have other resources? Do you find the other groups here, e.g. Sage News & Discussions or Business of Consulting, informative/useful? What do you think we could do to enhance this group? Any thoughts are welcome. Feel free to PM me if you prefer. Thanks in advance!

Our consultants don't see a big value in the Sage 300 Technical group, however with that said they don't experience the same kind of issues in a 300 installation as in a 100 installation. For example, we had a 100 installation trying to set up Positive Pay Export and selecting Standard Fixed Format. On the controllers workstation an exception was encountered each time using that format but could set up other formats. However going to a different workstation the set went up just fine. The Sage 100 technical group is great at answering these types of questions, but we rarely run into these types of issues in 300. Our consultants don't see the kind of activity occurring in the 300 technical group and they do in the 100 group, so they feel that there isn't a lot of 300 consultants participating. They rely more and more on Sage City, Google and You Tube. Personally I find the 100 Technical and the other groups informative and interesting to read.

Are you saying Sage 300 is more stable, less problematic @LloydSmith ??

The Sage 300 install is a little more straight forward and is less reliant on the workstation updates/configurations. Has the same rights issues but overall is less problematic. In 300 we rarely experience an issue on 1 workstation that can't be repeated on another workstation if it's a program issue versus a workstation issue. Substantially all workstation issues in 300 are rights related. A look back over the last 6 months and we have had 22 tech support cases on 100 and 7 on 300. Of the 22 for 100, 5 were related to Intelligence and of the 7 for 300, 3 were related to Intelligence. Since we do both applications and if we had a client where both applications fit their needs, however we had to install on a network with little IT support from the client, I would choose 300 every time because the follow up support time due to environments issue would be nil.

Wow, thanks @LloydSmith - good info. I am adding this to the @Sage100Routine group so others can get your perspective.

Yeah. I'll be there but John Tourville isn't going to be there. We just need a refund for him. I fly in on Thursday and leave Sunday morning. Regards, Lloyd
