General Consultant Discussion

We are thinking about changing our Virtual Private Server (VPS) provider for our various websites blogs etc. Our's is sitting on a discontinued platform and the current vendor isn't very impressive. Anybody super happy (not basic web host, need full VPS so we can manage multiple domains ourselves etc) with any particular vendor? Monthly pricing?

Here's what I heard: Hm -- GD has been on a dedicated server for years, ever since the HostICan crash back in the day. We moved to Softlayer, then to The Planet, and now we are back on Softlayer (they bought The Planet, go figure). http://www.softlayer.com/ I guess it depends upon how many hits he gets a day and how much he is willing to spend? GD is about 12,000 uniques a day / 18,000 total(?) -- I'm not sure what they're paying though I think they had to go up in $$ when they moved here after having a crash and losing everything with a cheaper host.

@WayneSchulz Is that unique hits, or unique visitors?

12k daily unique visitors - probably total 18k hits total (counts people who visit more than one page)

Yikes -- hopefully they're in the midst of a re-design....

Looks like they are updating the template.

We currently resell viaverio. Started with them as iserver in 1997. They have cpanel add-on which I like but they do not use all functions.
