    we are in the midst of an upgrade from 3.71 to 4.5.8 to 2018 when installing 4.5 (and 2018) the installation hangs at ""please wait while the installation is being finalized"" we even let it run overnight and it did not finish nor did it error. we tried killing it with task manager and migrating data, but during migration we get an error referencing prepare failed while converting System Files... (Screen shot attached) we made sure UAC was turned off and antivirus is disabled totally. anyone have any ideas why Finalize would just hang forever?

    I have had issues going from old versions to 4.5.8 then 2018. try to go from old versions to 2014 or 2015 then go to 2018. I have found that was a much smoother upgrade.

    Hi Dave - I recently performed a similar upgrade from 3.71. Try going directly to v2017 (5.40.5.0) then to v2018.3

    we will give a try at installing 2017, but even our 2018 seemed to hang at the ""finalize"" screen.

    Not sure if this has anything to do with your case, but I know it's strongly suggested to upgrade to v2013-2017 prior to 2018 for Credit Card purposes. Migrating the cards to one of these earlier versions from v4.50 tends to work better for that purpose.

    I had a PITA migration once with issue similar to this. I ended up copying the MAS90 folder to a local workstation. Ran the migration from the local workstation, then copied it back to the server.

    @JeffSchwenk we talked about that and may end up there. this is a remote client with pretty slow internet connection with several company folders. It took us 3 hours to download the 4.5 install package and another 3 hours to download 2018 install package. Currently we are waiting for the 2017 install package to download and keeping our fingers crossed that it will install.

    When faced with this situation in the past, I just said F' it and told the customer to obtain a USB stick, copy everything to it and overnight to me. Not worth the aggravation of the slow Internet.
