We are considering turning all the eternal collaborators (OASIS) into full Socialcast accounts. We are NOT making these people full 90 Minds members -- rather we are considering changing their account type from external collaborator to regular Socialcast. The driver of this is : - The external members cannot now search Socialcast (a big limitation of the service which we unfortunately didn't catch) -- if we switch them to full members they will be able to search across the public area (they'll still have access only to the * groups). Impact: - We will continue to only expose the 5 groups starting with * to the OASIS people - As full socialcast accounts they can read the default (HOME) streams which will make it easier to communicate with them. However that also means they can read (and search) prior comments in the HOME stream. We think we need to do this to provide value to OASIS members and make our group even more helpful. The only real issue we see is that the HOME stream becomes searchable by OASIS members when we convert their account. Most of our private postings seem to have landed in private groups -- which will continue to remain private. We've looked / searched the HOME stream and nothing has stood out as being particularly sensitive that we would not want to share with OASIS. If you have any questions o strong feelings/objections to this please post here so we can discuss. We'd like to do this within the next week or two.

Plus I assume that'd give them the ability to set up a real profile in SC, whereas right now I believe it's very limited.

So what you are saying is that although they can only browse the * groups, if they do a search, results from ALL groups will come up?

No. It means they'd just the * groups and anything that isn't in a group.

    Sounds reasonable... no objections here.

    I think it's a smart move
