Way to early on a Monday to have an IT person argue with me so coming here to my trusted advisors for help. I tried to install V2016 Standard last night on a server showing the attached operating system. I'm telling him W2008 Standard is not supported and he's telling me the version installed includes R2. Never heard such a thing. I've attached the operating system error and the resolution for the error I'm getting. Is he right?

He is confusing service pack 2 with R2. I am attaching what an R2 looks like.

By the way, FE, is Foundation Edition. Sage may have an issue installing on this one as well. (never tried it there, but it could be a factor)

What Phil said, also you can go into the command line (RUN>>cmd) and type in Ver, this will give you the version information as well.

Thanks, glad to see I was right (I have control issues!). He is getting me a different server to move it too. I sent him the SPM so hopefully he reads it.

I'm talking to a client this morning after a failed v2016c install over the weekend for the same issue. However, the IT person is working with me to upgrade the server operating system and provide SAGE with it's own virtual application server. Not all IT people are evil.

Look at page 2: http://www.escsoftware.com/sites/default/files/esc/SPM%20for%20Sage%20100%20Standard%202016.pdf , it shows required: 2008 R2 (SP1) Standard or Enterprise. Foundation is not supported. -- Signed: an IT person ... ^^ what @Michael McDonald said :)

FE is Foundation Edition like George mentioned. I think I have also seen it referenced as ""Windows Server 2008 for Windows Essential Server Solutions"". Limited in what it can do. Like the starter editions for workstations. I believe the image you show was for the 2008 version not the 2008 R2. It should say ""Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation"". Any which way Foundation is not supported by Sage. Only 2008 version supported is the R2 and it must be Standard or Enterprise.
