  • 1.  Way to copy payroll masterfile info only?

Existing end use on Sage 100 2017 wants to know if there's a way to copy just the payroll master file info ( similar to how you can copy masterfile info for GLAPAR )?

What they want is just the employee setup -- no balances

I think they are on the older payroll and have not yet considered the migration to payroll 2.0

I can think of a couple ways to do this - including closing payroll for the year and copying PRXXX to the new company but I'm not sure that will work if the underlying GL keys happen to change.

    Has anyone done anything similar?

I've done that once and that is pretty much what I did.  Yes you do have to walk through and make sure nothing else is left over (perpetual history, etc.).  And as you mentioned you might have to adjust your GL accounts.

I have done this before but when I did it the client was building a whole new company using the GL Copy functions of the wizard and the SVTRNA tool for AP, AR and IM.  Then i activated PR.  I only brought in the files that would be brought in for the Setup part of PR.
    Payroll Options
    Workmans Comp Maintenance
    Deductions/Earnings Maintenance
    Tax Table Maintenance Files
    Bank Code Maintenance
    Department Maintenance
    Labor Code Maintenance
    Benefit Schedule Maintenance
    Employee Maintenance
and you only need these if they are actually using information on them.  i.e Benefit Maintenance
If they have Local Tax Codes you will need from the PR directory itself the PRU, PRX, PRV, PRW, PR_09
Now if they plan on keeping all module data as it is they will need to clear the GL amounts with a General Journal Entry to adjust the number back down to correct value as it would be if there was not payroll ever ran in that company

I have attached the old school TRSG.  Depending on your version of Windows it may or may not install but you can get to the files manually and open them as needed directly from the unzipped content
