This client pays different rates for in shop and out in the field; they also have a handful of jobs a year with prevailing wage rates.

Just curious what you're using those for - I have a restaurant client whose employees can do multiple tasks at different rates and we are using the heck out of those 9 pay rates. I created a big text field to the right of that area to remind them which jobs are using which pay rates, as we had to assign multiple jobs to some rates (where there would never be a collision per employee, like cook and host).
